This is Inside Korea Travel, which introduces Korea's hidden places to foreigners.
Today, I'm going to tell you about the farm experience that was conducted during the pilot tour in May and the story of making tofu with a millstone. Gangwon-do is a mountainous area, so I told you that there are plenty of wild vegetables, right? In addition, it is also very famous for hand-made tofu because of its large farmland and significant soybean farming. If you have been to Gangneung, Gangwon-do, you must have seen lots of hand tofu restaurants and shops selling soft tofu gelato!
They also farm fresh beans in Yanggu, so you can see many handmade tofu restaurants. Instead of going to a hand-made tofu restaurant, we decided to grind beans with a millstone and try making tofu in a Korean-style cauldron.
We cleaned the beans that the granny had grown, soaked them in water, and ground them with a millstone. The finely ground soybeans were filtered through a sieve, and only the filtered beans were boiled in a cauldron. Then, we put it in a mold again and drained the water out to complete the delicious hand-made tofu. We enjoyed our dinner with hand-made tofu soup and side dishes!
You can try the tofu making experience with the K-granny during the June pilot tour held by Inside Korea Travel. Please apply through the Google link below.
